PTFE (Teflon) — Polytetrafluoroethylene
The most chemically inert plastic known, with the widest service temperature range and the lowest coefficient of friction of any solid material.
VFOOS supplies virgin and modified PTFE in sheet, rod and tube form, plus fully machined parts to your drawing. PTFE resists almost all industrial chemicals and solvents, operates from cryogenic temperatures up to +260 °C, and offers outstanding electrical insulation and non-stick performance.
It is the material of choice where chemical attack, extreme temperature or friction would destroy ordinary plastics — from chemical processing and food machinery to electrical and semiconductor equipment.

Key Properties
| Density | 2.14 – 2.20 g/cm³ |
| Service temperature | −200 to +260 °C |
| Coefficient of friction | 0.04 – 0.10 (lowest of any solid) |
| Water absorption | < 0.01 % |
| Chemical resistance | Virtually universal (except molten alkali metals) |
| Dielectric strength | High — excellent electrical insulator |
| Tensile strength | 20 – 35 MPa |
| Flammability | Self-extinguishing, UL94 V-0 |
Typical Applications
- Seals, gaskets and O-rings
- Bushings, bearings and valve seats
- Electrical and thermal insulators
- Chemical pump and valve components
- Food-processing machinery parts
- Semiconductor and lab equipment
Available Forms & Sizes
| Form | Size range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet / Plate | 0.5 – 100 mm thick | Virgin & modified grades |
| Rod | 6 – 300 mm diameter | Round, extruded or molded |
| Tube | Custom diameters and wall thickness | Made to order |
| Custom parts | To your drawing | CNC machined, tight tolerance |
Grades & Modifications
Available as virgin PTFE, reprocessed PTFE, and filled/modified grades including 25% glass fibre, 15–25% carbon, carbon–graphite, and bronze-filled for improved wear and creep resistance. FDA-compliant grades are available for food and pharmaceutical contact.
Machining & Fabrication
PTFE machines easily to fine tolerances by CNC turning, milling and drilling. We also offer skiving of thin sheets and precision cutting. Because PTFE has high thermal expansion, parts are machined with allowance for the intended service temperature.
